Construction workers, engineers and trades workers needed in Canterbury

October 10, 2011

The New Zealand Government has published a list of Skilled Occupations that are currently in demand to help rebuild Canterbury, in a hope to quickly attract skilled migrants to help with the rebuilding process.

The Government is keen to get the city moving again and has acknowledged that the area is desperately short of locally skilled staff and must now look overseas in an aim to fill the job shortage.

For applicants looking to make a speedy move to the other side of the world, many checks and normally time consuming procedures have been waived in the hope of quickly attracting staff to start the rebuilding process as soon as possible.

The list mainly focuses on three key areas:

  • Construction workers including building inspectors, surveyors, planners, project managers and builders
  • Engineering staff including civil engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers and telecommunication engineers

  • Trades workers including electrical line mechanics, electricians and scaffolders.

If you possess a skill in any of the aforementioned trades then Canterbury needs you, and they need you now. If you have been considering a move to New Zealand for a while then you have never been more in demand.

Moving halfway around the world can be a daunting task, but that’s where The Emigration Group comes in. Using over a decade of experience we will guide you through the process from start to finish so you can sit back, relax and let us take care of the paperwork.
