Construction in South Australia on the rise

May 24, 2012

A new BIS Shrapnel report has stated that civil construction work within South Australia will double by 2015.

This drive is expected to be backed by the Olympic Dam mine expansion project.

“The $25 billion Olympic Dam expansion is forecast to transform the landscape in South Australia, with activity in the state expected to boom from 2012-2013,” says the report.

“Overall, activity in South Australia is forecast to double between 2011-12 and 2014-15, and remain elevated for several years as work progresses in stages on the Olympic Dam expansion.”

South Australia is expected to join Queensland and Western Australia who are also expected to see a substantial surge in manufacturing.

“Both states are expected to see civil construction activity surge around 40 per cent in 2011-12 alone, led mainly by liquefied natural gas and bulk commodities infrastructure.”

With the increased popularity of the civil construction industry, many States around Australia are looking to source additional employees from overseas to fill a large number of newly formed job roles.

If you have experience within the mining, construction or manufacturing industries, then South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia are looking for you.
