Australia Introduces Global Talent Independent Program

Australia has launched a major new initiative in their immigration strategy - The Global Independent Talent Program designed to attract the world's most highly skilled migrants in selected industries to settle in Australia.  The seven industry sectors are:

  • AgTech
  • FinTech
  • MedTech
  • Cyber Security
  • Energy & Mining Technology
  • Space & Advcanced Manufacturing
  • Quantum Information/ Advanced Digital/ Data Science & ICT

Under this program successful applicants will benefit from:

  • The highest priority for visa processing
  • Be eligible for permanent residency if they are likely to earn more than $149,000 per year in Australia in one of the above industry sectors
  • A dedicated Home Affairs contact throughout the process
  • 5000 places available in 2019/20

The Government wants to position Australia at the forefront of major growth areas globally and to enable Australian businesses to access the world's best talent, which in turn will help growth industries in Australia to grow.
