Announcement of SkillSelect Invitations
The first invitation round of the family sponsored Skilled Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 489) and Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) visas washeld on August 1st 2012.
To ensure that the new SkillSelect system is working efficiently and smoothly the first run of invitations will be reduced in size.
The following number of invitations were offered:
- 10 in the Sponsored (Provisional) (family sponsored) subclass 489
- 90 in the Skilled Independent (Subclass 189).
The highest scoring Expression of Interests (EOIs) in each category will be awarded the invitations. In the event of a tie the invitation will be awarded to the applicant who reached their current points score first.
Numbers are expected to increase significantly after the initial round of applications – once the system has been tried and tested – with a significantly larger number in September and the potential for a second round of offers in August.
